Question
Why is flatulence a common side effect of taken an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor to treat diabetes?

Answers

Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors block alpha-glucosidases which reduces the amount of carbohydrates broken down into glucose and other monosaccarides. Meaning it's not broken down in the intestines but in the colon, bacteria digests it and this produces flatulence (and diarrhoea).   Your Comment
