Question
Is it true that souls of people are taken in the presence of Allah? How does the body remain alive without the soul in this case?

Answers

Yes. While sleeping, man’s soul is taken before Allah and if the period ordained for his lifespan has not been exhausted, it is sent back by the Will of Allah. What is presented before Allah is the Nafs of man, which is concerned with his emotions and intellect? His physical life and the lifesource called Ruh remains with the body. English vocabulary does not make any distinction between the Nafs and Ruh and refers to both as Soul. Sleeping resembles death to some extent; it is Mustahab (recommended) to sleep on the right-hand side facing the Qibla, which is the posture in which the dead are buried.   Your Comment
