Question
What does principle 3, involvement of people, mean?

Answers

People at all levels are the essence of an organization and their full involvement
enables their abilities to be used for the organization’s benefit. Applying the
principle of involvement of people typically leads to people who:
• understand the importance of their contribution and role in the organization;
• identify constraints to their performance;
• accept ownership and responsibility to solve problems;
• evaluate their performance against own personal goals and objectives;
• actively seek opportunities to enhance their competency, knowledge and
experience;
• freely share knowledge and experience;
• openly discuss problems and issues.
If you choose to give more responsibility and authority to those who work in
operating processes, you can translate the general objectives of your
organization via department objectives to individual objectives for employees. If
necessary you can link remuneration with the achievement of individual
objectives. The example in question 25 shows how involvement of employees
can be obtained and what involvement can provide. See also question 54.   Your Comment
