Question
What does ISO 9001:2000 mean by product realization?

Answers

Product realization is the sequence of processes with which the product is
realized. A process is an activity that receives inputs and converts them into
outputs (ISO 9001:2000, para. 0.2). The output from one process often directly
forms the input for the next process. The output 'supplied' to the customer is the
product. A detailed explanation of this process approach can be found in
ISO 9004:2000, para. 7.1.2. In the clause on managing processes it is stated
among other things that an operating plan should be defined to manage the
processes in which you can include (ISO 9004:2000, para. 7.1.3.1):
• input and output requirements for processes, such as specifications and
resources needed;
• activities within the processes;
• verification and validation of processes and products;
• analysis of the process, including dependability;
• identification, assessment and mitigation of risk;
• corrective and preventive action;
• opportunities and actions for process improvement;
• control of change.   Your Comment
