Question
How to differentiate between an 802.3 frame and an ethernet ii frame?

Answers

The value of 'length' field in an 802.3 frame must be less than 1500 and in a Ethernet II frame the value of 'type' field must be more than 1500. Since the 802.3 frame 'length' field and the Ethernet II frame 'type' field are at the same offset from the header, depending on the value present, the frame can be differentiated.   Your Comment

  • Q A homeowner is considering placing a 3.5’ deep splash pool on an existing deck. The deck consists of finished 2” X 6” (actual dimensions 1.5” X 5.5”) boards placed on finished 2” X 6” beams. The beams are supported by concrete blocks with centers on a 2’ X 4’ pattern. Therefore, the boards have a span length of 2.0 ft and they support the weight of water contained in a 5.5” X 2’ X 3.5’ rectangular prism. The beams have a span length of 4.0 ft and they support the weight of water and boards in a 2 by 4 ft or 8 ft2 area. The density of water is 62.34 lb/ft3 and the specific gravity of the wood is 0.75. Therefore, the density of the wood is 0.75(62.34) or 46.755 lb/ft3. The modulus of elasticity of the wood is 1.9 E6 lb/in2. Calculate the deflection of both the boards and the beams
