Question
What is the function of buffer manager?

Answers

The buffer manager is the DB2 component responsible for physically transferring data between an external medium and (virtual) storage (performs the actual I/O operations). It minimizes the amount of physical I/O actually performed with sophisticated buffering techniques(i.e., read-ahead buffering and look-aside buffering).   Your Comment

  • Q I grew up in a culture where placing of lit incense sticks (agarbatti) on the graves of loved ones was practised widely. I also have witnessed candles being lit and placed on hundreds of graves in the many Shia burial places in Iran and other places. Besides this, there are a number of marsiyas and nauhas (elegies) where the placing of a “diya” or “shama” (a source of flame/light such as a candle or an oil lamp) is referred to - not necessarily as a means of providing light! However someone told me that such rituals are not permissible in Islam. According to him, we should not place “Fire” on a grave, though he did not elaborate further. Is it permissible to light a candle or incense sticks (aggarbati) and place it on the grave of a loved one (family member, spouse, friend etc)?
